First-Time Buyers:
You have probably heard that the President recently signed legislation to extend the first-time homebuyer tax credit. I’m very excited about this news, as it gives buyers like you more time to take advantage of this incredible opportunity. To claim the $8,000 first-time buyer tax credit, you must sign a contract on a home by April 30, 2010, and close by June 30, 2010. While that seems like a long time from now, there will be many active buyers, including repeat buyers, who will be in the marketplace looking to take advantage of the new credits. Interest rates remain historically low, and there is a great selection of homes available, priced to sell. The new tax credit has also increased the income cap to $125,000 for single filers and $225,000 for joint filers, so it opens the door for more buyers to participate. To claim the $6,500 repeat buyer tax credit, you must sign a contract on a home by April 30, 2010, and close by June 30, 2010.
